Jazz fans and musicians alike enjoy the variety, excitement, and spontaneity of a live jazz jam session.  The December Jazz Jam Session will be hosted by Saxophonist Mike Van Arsdale and an amazing rhythm section, including Bassist Andy Burtschi, Trip Ziegler on piano, and Tim Stombaugh on Drums.

Open to all musicians – prepare a couple of jazz standards of your choice and come down to the Armadillo Ranch to sit in with Mike Van Arsdale and his group of top-notch jazz musicians! (This is NOT an open-mic, please come prepared).

Mike Van Arsdale received both his undergraduate and graduate degrees in Music Performance and Music Education from the University of Akron, OH. He served 29 years as a saxophonist with the U.S. Air Force Bands. While with the Air Force Academy Band, Mike was the musical director for the critically-acclaimed Falconaires.

In 2018, Mike was a part of starting Colorado Springs’ jazz radio station, Jazz93.5, where he was also an on-air host with the station.
Mike has taught music on the faculties of Ashland University, The College of Wooster, and Colorado College. He currently sits on the board of The Pikes Peak Jazz And Swing Society.
