Pikes Peak State College's Visiting Writers Series is honored to welcome spoken word artist Ashley Cornelius, the 6th Pikes Peak Region Poet Laureate.

About Ashley Cornelius:
Her poetry has been featured at TEDx Colorado Springs, the Colorado Springs Women's March, Denver Public Library, and Colorado Nonprofit Association, as well as on many stages. Additionally, she was the 2018 Women of the World Poetry Slam Colorado Springs representative and competed nationally. A winner of multiple poetry Slams in Colorado Springs, Cornelius is the Co-Director of Poetry 719, a poetry group lifting the voices of marginalized communities and BIPOC folks through poetry. She is sought after across the nation for speaking engagements and facilitating poetry workshops.

  • 5:30 p.m. - Art Gallery: Reception with treats and hot drinks. Sponsored by Student Government in the Art Gallery, which will feature the “Latinx Voices” art show.
  • 6 p.m. - Black Box Theater: PPSC students, faculty, and members of the Nearby Universe Writers’ Group will read their work. (Some student reader slots will be scheduled, and some will be open for sign-up at the event.)
  • 7 p.m.: Poet Laureate Ashley Cornelius will take the stage.
  • 8 p.m.: Book raffle
