Finally, the definitive book on the old town of Ramona has been written. After several years of research, author, David Swint, Jr., shows us the real pre-prohibition town of Ramona. Westsiders will know this area as Thorndale Park.
Ramona was established when Colorado City voted to prohibit liquor sales in the early 1900s. The town only survived a few years until Prohibition was voted in across the United States.
David will share Ramona’s geographic boundaries, history and low and high moments and its struggle to survive.
You will hear fascinating stories of the people and events of Ramona’s short life. All this information is now collected into one book just right for history buffs as well as researchers. The author became interested in Ramona while writing his book on Van Briggle pottery, THE STORY BEHIND THE CLAY!
Attendees will receive a history map of Ramona to use during the the visual presentation.
Society members attend free, non-members pay $5.
