The Day of the Dead (Día de los Muertos), is a Mexican holiday where families welcome back the souls of their deceased relatives for a brief reunion that includes food, drink, and celebration.

With deep roots in Mexican culture, Día or Noche de los Muertos bares similarities to Halloween but focuses more on honoring the memories of loved ones who have passed.

“Noche de los Muertos is an annual event which began in 2011 and has been hosted by the Smokebrush Foundation, Ryan Flores and me for eleven years,"  says Adriana Rincon, General Manager of the Smokebrush Foundation. Both Rincon and Flores are also founding members from the band Moonhoney. “

At the time around Halloween and All Souls Day the veil between our world and the next is much thinner and it is the best time of year for this kind of celebration.”

Smokebrush has been celebrating Day of the Dead, a Mexican Cultural holiday for eleven years.

The evening includes traditional music, face painting, performance art, dance, much revelry and an Ofrenda, an offering to the dead and a celebration of their life.
