DARIA Fall Issue Launch

DARIA Fall Issue Launch

Presented by UCCS Galleries of Contemporary Art and Ent Center for the Arts at Ent Center for the Arts

Meet the editor, staff, and writers, partake of light refreshments, grab your own free copy of the magazine, and visit GOCA's current exhibition caesura by Martha Russo.

DARIA: Denver Art Review, Inquiry, and Analysis is a publication focused on the visual art scene in the Colorado Front Range.

It features reviews of exhibitions and profiles of artists as well as an exhibitions calendar for art venues from Fort Collins to Trinidad.

The magazine is in print three times a year and online at dariamag.com

The Galleries of Contemporary Art (GOCA) is a regional hub of contemporary art, culture, and conversation at the Ent Center for the Arts at UCCS.

GOCA produces exhibitions and programs through a collaborative approach with artists of national, international, and regional significance.

The Galleries strive to engage UCCS and the greater community in dialogue around contemporary culture.

GOCA programs two galleries within the Ent Center for the Arts– the flagship Marie Walsh Sharpe Gallery and the Kang Lee Sheppard Project Space, as well as the Art Without Limits Public Sculpture Program on the grounds of the Ent Center.

Martha Russo's solo art exhibition caesura will be on-view during this event!

Martha Russo’s genre-defying body of work is experienced as an exercise in contradiction.

Her sculptural investigations appear fragile and potentially dangerous, cautioning one away while also drawing one in for intimate examination.

An exhibition nearly eight years in the making, caesura is aptly titled, meaning a break, pause, or interruption in the flow of a verse or melody.

Combining signature works of art with never-before-seen creative experiments, this installation is part mad scientist’s laboratory and part naturalist’s notebook.

The elegance of precious engagement with the wild is brought to fruition through unconventional materials found amongst studio detritus, porcelain tendrils bulbous acrylic bellies, oxidized nails, and… wattles.
