Friends of the Pikes Peak Library District annually recognize and reward both a regional and a local author who have captured the values of the West in a body of work.
The Friends of the Pikes Peak Library District will recognize its selection for both of the annual awards, the Frank Waters and the Golden Quill.
The winner of the Frank Waters Award is Mark Lee Gardner.
Already a winner of the 2010 Golden Quill and also a recipient of the Spur Award, Mr. Gardner's work has expanded and delineated the history of the American West.
His book titles include To Hell on a Fast Horse, The Earth is\All that Lasts, and Shot All to Hell.
A musician as well as an expert on the American West, audience will enjoy his presentation at the luncheon.
The Golden Quill winner for 2024 is Donna Guthrie.
Ms. Guthrie is the author of 23 books, including The Witch Who Lives Down the Hall, Noriah's Well, and The Little Pig Who Stayed Home.
Not just a writer but also a podcaster, playwright, and presenter of 60 educational videos is our awardee Ms. Guthrie.
