3D Shadowbox Workshop with Studio 2

at Bemis School of Art at the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center at Colorado College

Shadowboxes: have you ever seen one?

Today, you might find a beautifully crafted glass case on display in someone’s home containing anything from awards, to insect specimens, to fine art, or tiny nostalgic treasures.

Beginning as a military tradition, and developing throughout time as an art medium to cherish memories and tell stories alike, join us in exploring the art of assemblage by creating your very own shadowbox: an homage to tiny, beautiful moments of life. While exploring the history of this art medium, as well as artists that have mastered the craft, we’ll create our own shadowboxes in this hands-on, 2 hour workshop.

Keepsakes, miniatures, found objects, and shadowbox accents are all provided for this workshop, however, if you have something special you would like to include, or a preferred working medium, we encourage you to bring it along! While exploring the history of this art medium, as well as artists that have mastered the craft, we’ll create our own shadowboxes in this hands-on, 2 hour workshop.
