Ancient and Modern Egypt: A Story of the Middle East in Transition (#2200)

Presented by PILLAR Institute for Lifelong Learning at Colorado Technical University

In 2010, Phil McDonald had the opportunity to visit Egypt, courtesy of Museum Tours. His 9-day excursion took him from Cairo to Abu Simbel near the Egypt-Sudan border. Highlights of this wonderful journey included stops at the Giza Plateau to marvel at the Great Pyramids and Sphinx, visits to the Valley of the Kings, the ancient capital of Memphis, tours of Luxor, Karnak, and the Egyptian National Museum and a side-trip to the unforgettable massive stone temples of Ramses II at Abu Simbel. Photo highlights will be featured during the first half of this class. Following the break, we will consider the changes that have been experienced in Egypt since 2010.
