Join guitarist Colin McAllister and pianist Kelly Zuercher for “The Supreme Mystery” in the beautiful setting of Benet Hill Monastery for works of Vivaldi, Turina, Piazzolla, Hildegard von Bingen and more!
The Supreme Mystery at Benet Hill Monastery features Colin McAllister on guitar and Kelly Zuercher on piano.
The French anthropologist and ethnologist Claude Lévi Strauss wrote that the invention of melody is "the supreme mystery in the sciences of man." This concert celebrates the creation of melody through a variety of works from different historical periods. You will hear two concerti: the early 18th century Concerto in D Major by Antonio Vivaldi, and from the pen of British composer Richard Harvey, the thrilling and virtuosic Concerto Antico. Rounding out the program are works by Hildegard von Bingen, Joaquin Turina and Astor Piazzolla.
