Photographing Architecture for Fun: Photography Lecture

Presented by Palmer Divide Photographers at Mountain Community Mennonite Church

Birkey will present his approach to photographing architecture, exploring architectural subjects at home and while traveling, creating a series of architectural images, choosing between abstractionism and realism, and deciding whether a subject should be in black-and-white or color.

Birkey has been a photographer in the non-profit world for more than 25 years and has done photography assignments in more than a dozen countries. Birkey and his family were based in Ecuador for over 14 years before moving to Colorado Springs in 2007. He has been photographing architecture for fun since 1985. A portfolio of his images entitled "Shapes of Chicago" was recently featured in the magazine Lenswork.
