Afternoon Delight

This 10′ high by 25′ wide mural was painted in 1996 by Sparky LeBold in the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center’s Bemis School of Art building. “The focal point of this asymmetrical painting is a far-left positioned mountain peak lit by emerging sunlight. High cloud formations grow smaller as they move front to back into the distance and direct the eye to the peak. The dark, horizontal line of the foreground contrasts with the bright, sharply-rising contour of the peak and mountains. The artist has interpreted nature through the use of designed realism and has shown beauty and hope disclosed by light illuminating dark. ” (Source: “Discussing Murals: FAC internal publication”)
