Ice Harvest

Ice Harvest , installed at the corner of Beacon Lite Road and 2nd Avenue, was the first piece of public art installed by Tri-Lakes Views. It forms the focus of a newly treed entry into historic Monument. Commissioned from artists Tim Upham and Lisa Cameron, the 9 irregular rectangles welded together to represent blocks of ice are mounted 9 feet above the ground on 3 steel posts. The completed piece is 30 feet long. This representation of a historic photograph of ice cutting on Monument Lake was painted on the back of the Lexan sheets, essentially requiring the artists to paint it backwards. The story of this historic activity is displayed on a monument set on a brick patio below the sculpture. The bricks are etched with the names of those individuals and organizations who contributed to this first piece of public art.
