Piazza Navona Gallery: Front Exterior

The front of the Piazza Navona Gallery and Café in Manitou Springs was painted by Jessie Woodard as a replica of the piazza Navona in Rome. It was commissioned by the owner of the Piazza Navona Art Gallery and Café gallery’s Alberto Leopizzi, who was born in Rome. The fountain in the Rome piazza was created by Bellini who posed the figures in the fountain to avert their eyes from the church on one side because he did not win as earlier commission to design the church, on the left, but instead the commission was given to one of this students. The gallery features the works of many local artists. (Source: conversation with gallery owner)
