Threshold VII

“Threshhold VII” was created by Steven Durow.

Salvaged from a historic building at Tulane University, this six-foot granite pillar was transformed into a portal with the addition of an inset of translucent cast glass.

“This work represents the fractal nature of time and each point of decision as a doorway, or threshold, through which we can only walk once,” says Durow. “After passing through, every subsequent moment of our lives is irrevocably altered.”

Observe the way light seems to gather in the center of Threshold VII, just as possibilities gather in the unknown.
