Trader Black

This ceramic tile mural was created in 2001 by Will Lancaster for the Tile Traders, a ceramic tile supply firm, in one of the historic Alexander Film Studio buildings on North Nevada Ave.

The location is now occupied by Tap Traders, a restaurant and bar, and the owner decided to keep the mural as a relevant art work. The mural is the back room at the landing of the stairs leading to a 2nd floor mezzanine art gallery. Will Lancaster created a mythical character, Trader Black, as an homage to the tile supply firm’s activity. The new building owner has retained the mural as part of the art gallery.
