Pick up a ball of clay from the Manitou Library on First Friday to build a tray and write poetry on it!
Poetry Heals and Potter Mark Wong are pleased to announce the spring edition of Poetry ON Pottery! This event is a collaboration with the Manitou Art Center and Manitou Library.
Come to the Manitou Library at 515 Manitou Ave to pick up a ball of clay and take it home to create a beautiful tray that you can decorate with your original poetry. Clay will be distributed on First Friday, April 2, from 4 to 8 p.m.
Poetry Heals will conduct a virtual writing workshop on Saturday, April 3 at 11 a.m. to provide creative inspiration as you work on your project. Each participant will be given instructions with their ball of clay on how to view the instructional video by Mark Wong, how and when to return the pieces for Mark to glaze and fire them (return by 4/9), and when to pick up your final product.
The completed pieces will be on display and ready for pickup on May’s First Friday, 5/7. When assembled together, this exhibit of community art will show that even when we must maintain physical distancing, we are not alone.
This is a free community event, but donations are gladly accepted. Poetry ON Pottery is made possible by a grant from Manitou Art, Culture and History Fund.
