Cody Oldham is a professional seventeen-year-old wildlife and landscape oil painter who has been painting since he was eleven years old. He is always learning and experimenting with new subjects, styles, and techniques. Growing up in beautiful Colorado, he is constantly surrounded by the wildlife and landscapes he enjoys painting.
He began his artistic career experimenting with abstracts, wildlife, and dinosaurs (as any kid would). He started by sculpting dinosaurs then paintings them. New York artist James Gurney inspired him to paint dinosaurs and is still a huge influence on Cody’s work today.
After painting and sculpting dinosaurs for a bit, everything changed when he found his mentor, New Zealand-based artist Andrew Tischler. Andrew has helped him with painting techniques, the business side of art, and much more. Cody also studies how great artists such as Robert Bateman, John Banovich, and Norman Rockwell created their beautiful masterpieces which has helped him progress quickly in his career. Over the past few years, he studied different styles of painting and settled on impressionistic realism. He tries to convey a sense of reality in his work.
