Sheary Clough Suiter is an encaustic art instructor and painter whose narrative style incorporates both figurative imagery and abstract design. Sheary has been a working visual artist for over 25 years, receiving numerous awards recognizing her expertise in encaustic, including a Pikes Peak Arts Council MicroGrant, a Permanent Collection Purchase by the Anchorage Museum,a Rasmuson Foundation Individual Artist Project Award, and an Alaska State Council on the Arts Career Opportunity Grant funded by NEA.
Sheary is founder and past president of Alaska Wax (Alaska Chapter International Encaustic Artists) and served nationally on the IEA Executive Board as Chief Officer of Opportunities. A 35-year resident of Alaska, Sheary now resides, paints, and teaches in Colorado Springs at Bemis School of Art at Colorado College. She teaches “Painting With Encaustic” workshops locally at Colorado Springs Fine Art Center at Colorado College’s Bemis School of Art.
