60 Marks

A common obstacle many creatives face is knowing when their piece is done, for fear of overworking it.

For this call we defined that stopping point for artists: 60 marks.

Whether you work in 2D or 3D, this open call for entries dictated that the piece must be finished in 60 motions or less – stitches in fabric, brush marks on canvas or paper, lines in a drawing, etc.

Many artists would consider a creation limited in this way a warm-up, or sketch, however it is during the sketch that some of the most important information about a piece is communicated to both the viewer and the artist themselves – the moment when an idea is tangibly manifested into visual art.

We requested brevity for the sake of refining intention.
