Local authors are the highlight of the event. Attendees will learn about digital kindness and grace from Lauren Hug, an expert on social media engagement; discover culture and community works with Dr. Regina Lewis and learn about Chef Brother Luck’s mental health journey.
The event will also feature authors such as Charmas Lee, a local coach, and MelindaJoy Mingo, who writes about high-performance and diverse cultures. Jean Rice, Dianne Derby, and Lonzie Symonette, local authors who have experienced success as published writers, will lead presentations.
Also presenting at the Civility of the Book are George Hayward, Brian Parson, Mara Paul, Kathleen Owings, Kevin Landis, Dr. Nathaniel Granger, Darren Zeer, and Kat Tudor. All are authors writing from various perspectives, industries, and experiences, and all are from Colorado Springs and the Pikes Peak region.
The three-day event features workshops for aspiring writers. Featured sessions will explain how to tell a story, publish a book, or find a literary agent. On Thursday, City Aud will present a family-friendly children’s reading program featuring Linda Weise from the Simple Gifts public television series. Tickets for the children’s event are $13.
