Family Day at WMMI: Science

The Western Museum of Mining and Industry celebrates science and shows the importance of mining to our region. Come see the powerful Yellow Jacket Stamp Mill in action!!  Feel the power as the entire building seems to come alive to crush ore in search of gold.

Watch the 1920 Osgood Steam Shovel (made famous by the beloved children’s book, “Mike Mulligan and his Steam Shovel”) as it revs its gears and shows the tenacity of its original operators.  Plus see the Blacksmith Shop in action, take a ride on a tractor-pulled hay ride, try your luck at gold panning and lots more.

Also–July Family Day is all about science. Special guests focus on STEM activities, experiments and discussions to pique your interest in all that is super cool science.
