Family Star Party: Looking Back in Time

Space Foundation Discovery Center will host a Family Star Party on Saturday, May 7. The party will provide a fun, family-friendly environment to learn more about stars, nebulae and galaxies and what the universe looked like many years ago.

Activities:

Outside (weather permitting):

• Viewing Crescent moon
• Gazing at Orion the Hunter
• Viewing and learning about galaxies in Leo and Virgo
• Enjoying the Mobile Earth + Space Observatory (MESO) and its 12″ telescope

Inside

• Exploring Deep Space presentations in the Science On a Sphere® theater
• El Pomar Space Gallery scavenger hunt

This event creates a fun learning environment to inspire the next generation of astronomy enthusiasts. MESO is a “science center on wheels,” allowing the public to experience authentic science firsthand and engaging young people with STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) topics.
