Every year, the Colorado Springs Pioneers Museum (CSPM) hosts the Gift of History – our largest fundraiser to support the Museum’s exhibits, educational programming and the preservation of our object and archival collection. This year, to kick off the Gift of History campaign CSPM is presenting a week of public programs to demonstrate how we fulfill our mission to build a lasting connection to the Pikes Peak region by preserving and sharing our cultural history.
This event features a tour of the Pioneers Museum which follows an informational session about becoming a volunteer for the CSPM. Without our volunteers, we would be history! Each year, the museum relies on over 100 volunteers and interns to support our mission to build a lasting connection to the Pikes Peak region by preserving and sharing our cultural history. We are looking for volunteers that share our values, want to give back to their community, and are willing to learn and grow.
Join us on Thursday, August 4 from 10AM-12PM to learn more about the mission and work of the CSPM and how you can support our efforts as a volunteer and provide the Gift of History for the Colorado Springs community and beyond! At the end of the session we will also offer a 60 minute guided tour. Explore the museum with a knowledgeable volunteer guide. Explore unique stories of how health, creativity, entrepreneurship, and opportunity have driven migration to and settlement in the Pikes Peak region.
We ask that volunteers make a minimum of a four month commitment. Some roles have an ongoing weekly shift while others only require volunteering a few times per month. Prospective volunteers are asked to submit an application and go through an initial phone interview. If you are selected to join the CSPM you will also be asked to go through a background check and orientation process.
We are recruiting the following roles for Fall 2022:
– Customer Service Volunteers: Museum Store & Front Desk
– Education Volunteers: Adult Tours & 2nd-5th Grade School Programs
