Group Mandala Making Experience

The general public is invited to take part in the creation of a group mandala, to celebrate the kick off of Holistic Health Week in Colorado Springs, sponsored by the Center for Essential Wellness. Artist Tamara Herl will facilitate the process. Mandalas are circular images that have been used for generations to promote healing, spiritual development, and calmness. The process of creating a mandala can be a form of meditation in itself.

In this interactive event, participants will first take part in a brief guided meditation led by Herl, and will then work together to create their circular image using items from nature, such as rocks, tree bark, grass, seeds, and flowers. This temporary installation, also called ephemeral art, will be dismantled at the end of the experience. Participants can also view photos of other mandalas Herl has created and other images from nature. Children must be supervised by an adult.
