Icons of American Art: Painting Workshop

BGAA hosts National and International Museum Artists leading classes at the Broadmoor Resort in Colorado Springs providing an inspiring and creative environment. Workshops include gallery exhibits by the instructors where students can see how techniques and gallery exhibits by the instructors where students can see how techniques and process are employed and how they relate to the philosophies and concepts discussed in class, reinforcing lessons.

Through their extensive background in commercial illustration and museum fine art, Blackshear and Tucker have acquired a wealth of artistic techniques and processes which they will share with students. Conveying an in-depth look at the whole process of creating a finished and realized painting: from the idea stage, exploring composition, color harmony, balance, tone, and depth to bring a piece into its final stage. Included is a great behind-the-scenes look at ideas, rough sketching, drawing, transferring the drawing to canvas, color roughs, acrylic washes for under-painting and more! Also enjoy a look at lighting, posing, and photographing models. Thomas and Ezra will be sharing their thought processes for creating masterful art.  These techniques that can be incorporated by students into their own individual styles to reach all new levels of creative expression, giving them the tools to discover their artistic voice.
