Indigo Itajime Shibori

Class Description: Itajime Shibori is the Japanese technique of folding and clamping as a resist. It is so exciting to unfold the fabric and see what designs are created. This class will give you a working knowledge of itajime shibori that you will be able to repeat not only for indigo but for other dyes as well. Join Ruth for a day of exploration and creative dyeing!

Materials fee: $40 includes indigo dye, all tools needed and a few pieces of natural fibers to give you a good variety

Student supply list:

• Natural fabrics, clothing items you might want to dye.
• Readers if you need them.
• Lunch, chocolate and an adventurous spirit.
• Wear clothing and shoes that is ok to get blue.

Number of hours for class: 6 hrs, 1 hour lunch break

Class Level: Concentration – The student will be invited to learn more about a certain subject and be expected to have had some experience with it or have taken a prior class. These classes will probably involve several sessions.
