Online Blooming Cactus Watercolor Workshop

When cactus bloom, the desert comes alive with color! Prickly Pear cactus present beautiful orange, red, yellow, pink or magenta blooms that hummingbirds and other pollinators love. In this workshop we will paint a prickly pear cactus with contrasting bright orange/red blooms against a cool green plant. Students will learn methods to create the glowing petals of the flowers in the sunlight. Color mixes for describing the cactus plant and techniques like layering, adjusting a masked area, wet-on-wet, and more.

Time permitting, as a contrast to the desert plant, I will also demonstrate how I paint a swan in the water as smaller, bonus painting. Students are welcome to watch or paint along.
