‘Pushout: Criminalization of Black Girls in Schools’ Film Screening presented by Pikes Peak Community College at Online/Virtual Space, 0 0

In celebration of Black History Month, Pikes Peak Community College is partnering with Rocky Mountain Women’s Film and School District 49 to present this free online screening.

“Pushout” uses powerful first-person narratives from school-age Black girls, with insights from equity and inclusion experts, to closely look at the challenges and impacts Black girls face with unspoken practices and cultural beliefs within the education system leading to harsh discipline. The film addresses how systems can support the needs of these young girls with positive responses that focus on the reasons behind certain behaviors.

Filmmakers: Monique Morris & Jacoba Atlas. “An Evening with Monique Morris,” a virtual presentation and discussion with the film’s producer and author of the book, will take place on Thursday, Feb. 25 at 7 p.m. Please see additional Peak Radar listing for details.
