'The Medal in America'

Through the discovery of money, America’s largest museum dedicated to numismatics brings culture to life. The museum explores art, history, science and much more to promote the diverse nature of money and related items.

View the museum’s newest exhibit, “The Medal in America,” which illustrates the history of the U.S. from colonial times to the present, starting with the invention of modern medals and how they are made.

See how coins were made from the early 1500s to 1800s. Museum staffers will be on hand to demonstrate the minting process and produce commemorative coins for museum visitors to take home.
