Works by Chris Alvarez
Please note, this event has expired.
The Cultural Office is honored to present a collection of works in oil by local painter, Chris Alvarez, for the first quarter of 2020.
In this collection of a dozen paintings, Alvarez transports the viewer to the Western countryside. Through his distinctive style of lush, loose brushstrokes, familiar mountain ranges, cattle, chickens, and lone pickup trucks under the moon come to vivid life.
Alvarez’s work has won several awards, including Plein Aire Magazine’s grand prize at the Paint Historic Manitou Paintout and the grand prize at the Victor Celebrates the Arts Paintout. He was featured in the April 2016 issue of Springs Magazine. He will be featured in the Colorado Governor’s Show in 2020.
A well-known figure drawing and painting teacher in the Pikes Peak region, Alvarez opened Alvarez Art School in 2010, where he teaches drawing and painting to adults and children. He has developed a holistic art program, including instruction in seeing, drawing, and painting techniques, exploration into the philosophies of being an artist and art making.
