First Christian Church is presenting the Little London Winds, directed by Paul Jacobson. Music to be performed will include a Sousa march and a concertpiece for trumpet and band, as well as other selections. A free will offering will be taken.
The Little London Winds was established in 1992 by a small group of serious amateur musicians who wished to play quality literature and maintain a high level of performance. They perform a variety of music literature from well-known favorites to newer works throughout Southern Colorado, and have a wildly popular summer concert series, drawing 600-plus audience members a night. The Little London Winds also has a rich history of passing on the love of music and learning by doing clinics and concerts with Colorado Springs area schools.
Conductor Paul Jacobson is an active composer, producer, music director and educator. As a musician, Paul has been writing, performing, and directing music professionally for over 25 years, and has transcribed several works specifically for The Little London Winds. As an educator, Paul has been teaching music to all ages for over 30 years in local churches and public schools from undergraduate to professional levels.
Selections to be performed will include Concord by Clare Grundman; The Diplomat March by John Philip Sousa; Concertpiece Solo For Trumpet and Concert Band by James Curnow, featuring soloist Frank Hilligas; To Walk with Wings Fanfare and Overture by Julie Giroux; Inglesina “The Little English Girl” by David Delle Cese; and Bandancing - City Shuffle by Jack Stamp and other works.
