Wilderness First Responder

Presented by Colorado Mountain Man Survival at Colorado Mountain Man Survival

This 80 hour class, written by physicians and medical staff at the University of Utah School of Medicine, is an immersive class designed to transform the novice into a competent responder in the backcountry. This class is designed for the guide, outfitter, wilderness ranger, expedition team member, SAR professional, or outdoorsman that spends extended time in areas with no access to EMS or definitive medical care. This class also addresses the conditions that survivors might find themselves in after or during a natural disaster with low resources.

This class is a mix of lectures, engaging discussions, demonstrations and hands on practice. Scenarios are conducted in a variety of terrains representing the conditions that a skier, snowboarder, hiker, climber, biker, hunter or guide could find themselves. The class will supply the medical supplies for all scenarios and testing. You will be amazed how quickly you start building the confidence and skills to assess and treat patients!

Course Highlights

The class instructor has 10+ years experience as a EMS provider, guide, SAR team member and educator. All adjunct instructors have backgrounds in ski patrol, EMS and SAR. Get the best knowledge from practitioners with years of experience!
