Juried installation of artwork from artists across the region, working using the creative inspiration of Man Ray.
Cottonwood is thrilled to announce a juried show for June, composed of artists of all mediums, coming from within Cottonwood and from across the region.
These artists have taken inspiration from Man Ray, who is best known for his experimental artwork involving painting, assemblage, film, and famously his “Rayographs” - prints made by placing objects on photosensitive paper.
Man Ray’s eclectic career spanned many decades, but he is best known for his work during the 1930’s in Paris. He was an artist who avoided categorization, but he is usually referred to as a Surrealist. A Defining theme throughout his work is his unique ability to create meaning by placing unconnected forms in juxtaposition, and in unexpected context.
Working within the parameters of his brand of inspiration while avoiding direct imitation, the artists of this show bring you their interpretation of our modern world through the lens of Man Ray, with the results being an illuminating and exciting collection to view.
Cottonwood is also a participating stop on the First Friday Shuttle Bus. Local artists and performers are along for the ride in each bus to entertain you, guide you, and share stories and interesting facts about our community. The free shuttle bus service is intended to serve local residents as well as visitors to the Pikes Peak region. Find all the details at PeakRadar.com/FirstFriday.
