CC Summer Music Festival: Faculty Artists Concerts

These concerts feature our professional musician Festival faculty performing a wide array of chamber music. The June 7 concert begins with Gabrieli’s Canzon primi toni a 8, O Magnum mysterium, and Canzon Septimi toni, performed by Stefan Hersh, violin; Laura Frautschi, violin; Virginia Barron, viola; David Ying, cello; Kevin Cobb, trumpet; Michael Thornton, horn; John Rojak, bass trombone. The program continues with Fuchs’ Quiet in the Land, with Alice Dade, flute; Jon Manasse, clarinet; Robert Walters, English horn; Toby Appel, viola; and Ying. Next, Dade, Walters, Manasse, Thornton and Michael Kroth, bassoon, take the stage for a woodwind quintet arrangement of Jupiter from Holst’s The Planets. Closing the program is Steven Beck, piano, with Frautschi, Mark Fewer, violin, Phillip Ying, viola, and David Ying, performing Dohnányi’s Piano Quintet No. 1 in C minor.

Single tickets for Festival Artists Concerts are $35 for the general public, $30 for Festival donors, and $5 for children and students. Season tickets to all five Festival Artists Concerts presented in June are $160 for the general public and $140 for donors. Season tickets to all seven Festival concerts (five Festival Artists and two Festival Orchestra) are the best value for music lovers at $200 for the general public, $175 for donors, and $150 for first-time ticket subscribers.

Now in its 39th season, the Colorado College Summer Music Festival provides the highest caliber, inclusive educational experience for pre-professional musicians, connecting them with preeminent performance faculty as they prepare to launch rewarding careers, while simultaneously providing vibrant and diverse concerts celebrating legacy, contemporary, and underrepresented classical music – thereby enriching the community of the Pikes Peak region.
