CC Summer Music Festival: Festival Orchestra Concert

The Colorado College Summer Music Festival presents its first Festival Orchestra Concert of the 2023 season, with Scott Yoo conducting, beginning at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 13, in Celeste Theatre, Cornerstone Arts Center.

These concerts feature the Festival Orchestra, comprising the student fellows who were selected to attend the intensive three-week Summer Music Festival program to learn from preeminent performance faculty through private lessons, masterclasses, and ensemble rehearsals and performances. The orchestra is under the direction of Scott Yoo, conductor, violinist and host of the PBS Great Performances series Now Hear This.

The June 13 concert program opens with Beethoven’s Leonore Overture III, followed by Nielsen’s Concerto for flute and orchestra, featuring Festival flute faculty Alice Dade. The concert concludes with Brahms’ Symphony No. 4 in E minor.

Single tickets for Festival Orchestra Concerts are $30 for the general public, $25 for Festival donors, and $5 for children and students. Season tickets to both Festival Orchestra concert are $55 for the general public and $45 for donors. Season tickets to all seven Festival concerts (five Festival Artists and two Festival Orchestra) are the best value for music lovers at $200 for the general public, $175 for donors, and $150 for first-time ticket subscribers.

Now in its 39th season, the Colorado College Summer Music Festival provides the highest caliber, inclusive educational experience for pre-professional musicians, connecting them with preeminent performance faculty as they prepare to launch rewarding careers, while simultaneously providing vibrant and diverse concerts celebrating legacy, contemporary, and underrepresented classical music – thereby enriching the community of the Pikes Peak region.
