Summer Music Festival Intermezzo Concert

The SMF presents the first in two Intermezzo Concerts which precede the SMF Season June 5-24.

Violinist Mark Fewer, dedicated chamber musician, jazz violinist, artistic director, teacher, Juno and Prix Opus winner, is described as “Genre bending” (National Post) and “Intrepid” (The Globe and Mail). Fewer has performed around the world to critical acclaim in virtually every role asked of a violinist, and then some.

Pianist John Novacek is a much sought-after collaborative artist and has performed with Joshua Bell, Matt Haimovitz, Leila Josefowicz, Yo-Yo Ma, to name a few.  Her regularly tours the Americas, Europe and Asia as a solo recitalist, chamber musician and concerto soloist.

Idris Goodwin, director of the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center at Colorado College, is a multiple award-winning American playwright, rapper, essayist, and poet. Goodwin’s work has been produced around the country and recognized by the National Endowment for the Arts, The New York Times, National Public Radio and others. He is best known for his “break beat” poems and plays which adopt hip hop’s tight wordplay and political urgency by translating them into fresh forms.
